City of
Lincoln - About 30 minutes drive
The City of Lincoln is a must see while you're
with us. From it's magnificent cathedral and cobbled
streets to the vibrant nightlife and fine restaurants,
Lincoln really does have it all. Lincoln dates
back
Lincoln
Cathedral
Lincoln
Cathedral is an amazing place to
visit and one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe
and a prominent landmark for miles around.
Dating from 1092 and built on the orders
of William The Conquerer the Lincolnshire limestone
building towers over the city.
Lincoln
Castle
Two years after the Norman conquest in
1066 William The Conquerer ordered Lincoln Castle be built on the
existing site of a Roman fortress high above the
town.
Lincoln Castle remains one of the most
impressive Norman castles in the United Kingdom. It is
still possible to walk around the immense 12th century
walls with its ramparts providing a magnificent view of
the Castle complex, together with panoramic views of the
Cathedral, the City of Lincoln and the surrounding
countryside.
Steep
Hill
It is just that, a very steep hill where shops, tea rooms and
pubs line the route. At the top is the entrance to the
Cathedral.
Brayford
Pool
In the centre of Lincoln is a deep
natural lake called the Brayford Pool which was used very
successfully by the Romans as a port of
significance.
In the 1990's Brayford
Pool underwent major regeneration and now is full of
restaurants and nightlife. Well worth spending a day in
Lincoln as there's just so much to see.
